I am trying to get Jett to post

This blog was my idea, but I am hoping that eventually Jett will be as invested in it as I am.  Yesterday I suggested that she post something.  “What should I post?” she said.  “Whatever is on your mind” said I.  Jett, who had had yet another really bad day at work, just scowled at me and said “I don’t think you want to know what is on my mind.”  She was probably right.  I will have to wait until she is in a better mood.

Yeah.  Could be a while.

In the meantime, I have written a page about our first RV shopping trip and how our thoughts coalesced around what kind of RV we should be looking for: “Window Shopping”.

I’m not sure Jett has even read these posts yet.  Maybe once she reads them she will have something to say.  Hopefully something I will want to hear.

Just to be clear…

We are not yet fulltimers.  We are fulltimer wannabees.  We don’t even own an RV.  But we do have an option to purchase one – a 2010 Open Range 399BHS.  It sleeps 10.  Not that we ever want to have 10 people in it, but we do want to be able to take the grandkids for short periods of time.  The bunkroom can also serve as a doghouse when Jett is mad at me and a man cave when I want to watch football.  And it comes with 1.5 baths.  We are getting older and, the likelihood that both of us will need a bathroom at the same time is high now and will continue to grow. And two entrances!  A very nice unit.

We took the option because we have no place to store it for the winter, we really didn’t want to take on the expense of insuring it and it will be cheaper to tap our retirement fund next year (assuming it is still there… PLEASE, Greece, get your debt crisis under control!!!).

Anyway, fulltiming is still a fantasy at this point.  In recognition of that, I wrote a page describing some of my early fantasizing: “Fantasizing – 48 States in 48 Months”. Enjoy!

Got it!

Sometimes even small victories feel great.  I got the links to work!  I now know how to link a post to a page!

Just getting started, so bear with me

So far the biggest problem I have encountered is the links.  I wanted to put a link from my first post to the “Genesis” page, but no luck.  I entered the link in HTML but as soon as I switched to a visual mode it got erased.  I need to figure this one out.  Soon.

In the meantime, I have created a new page: “Budgeting Doodling”. It describes my first back-of the-envelope calculations and how I decided (prematurely, as it turns out), that early retirement was feasible.
