It was partly just a weekend getaway, but the <em>raison d&#8217;etre<\/em> for the trip was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibpabenjaminfranklinaward.com\/\">IBPA Ben Franklin Awards<\/a>. I was, in effect, a &#8220;proxy finalist&#8221; as I was representing David Benjamin and Last Kid Books. <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ourwanderyears.com\/blog\/2022\/04\/14\/fat-vinnys-forbidden-love-by-david-benjamin\/\">Fat Vinny&#8217;s Forbidden Love<\/a><\/em> was nominated in the &#8220;best comedy book&#8221; category.  It didn&#8217;t win, but the ceremony was far more entertaining than I expected. And Ooma, when she saw me in my suit and tie, said that I &#8220;cleaned up nicely.&#8221; That alone made it worthwhile.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ooma and I traveled to Orlando this past weekend.
