It knocked some items off my bucket list. And Marlene and I arrived home still liking each other. I call that a success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By the numbers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>11 days, 10 nights, 8 hops, 2,482 miles (310 miles per hop).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>129 extra miles due to trips to casinos, two trips into Nashville and a trip to Hershey Chocolate World.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>76.3 gallons of fuel consumed (34.2 miles per gallon).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Total fuel cost: $223.04 ($2.92 per gallon).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8 nights in a hotel: $737.31 ($92.16 per night).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Visiting our cousins in Louisville KY.<\/strong> I see my cousin frequently as he lives near me half the year but had never visited him at his Louisville home. Marlene hadn&#8217;t seen her cousin in over 30 years. Both visits were very nice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Visiting the Flight 93 Memorial near Shanksville PA.<\/strong> Somber but beautiful.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Visiting Hershey&#8217;s Chocolate World in Hershey PA.<\/strong> Fun with chocolate treats.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Visiting the Ben &amp; Jerry&#8217;s factory in VT.<\/strong> Entertaining with delicious ice cream.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Visiting Nashville TN.<\/strong> Seeing Lower Broadway in full swing at night was a treat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Drury Inn in Nashville.<\/strong> This was our most expensive hotel but worth every penny.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lowlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Finding Fort Ticonderoga closed.<\/strong> Disappointing as this was one of the reasons I routed TS_10 through Vermont.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Losses at the casinos.<\/strong> Marlene did okay but I did poorly at all of them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Some disappointing Wyndham hotels.<\/strong> I expect a certain quality from all the Wyndham brands, but some of my choices &#8211; the La Quinta in Tallahassee being the worst &#8211; were not the quality I expected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Planned and actual routes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ourwanderyears.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TS_10-plan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"907\" height=\"756\" data-id=\"14283\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourwanderyears.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TS_10-plan.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ourwanderyears.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TS_10-plan.jpg 907w, https:\/\/www.ourwanderyears.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TS_10-plan-300x250.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ourwanderyears.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TS_10-plan-768x640.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 907px) 100vw, 907px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">TS_10 plan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ourwanderyears.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TS_10-actual.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"868\" height=\"890\" data-id=\"14282\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ourwanderyears.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TS_10-actual.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ourwanderyears.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TS_10-actual.jpg 868w, https:\/\/www.ourwanderyears.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TS_10-actual-293x300.jpg 293w, https:\/\/www.ourwanderyears.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TS_10-actual-768x787.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 868px) 100vw, 868px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">TS_10 actual<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The plan and actual only resemble each other in that they both were routed through Louisville with a stop at Hershey PA. Everything else changed. Most notably, we started via VT and NY.
