I guess we are addicted. We had to think twice about this one due to its length (45 nights) but&#8230; SOUTH AMERICA! Neither of us has ever set foot in South America and this one has 10 South American ports!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Had to do it. Especially when the price dropped ridiculously low &#8211; about $1800 each. That is $40 per day, room, board and entertainment included. We can&#8217;t live in Florida for that price. And I figure I will save about $1500 by not having my usual Florida living expenses. We will have to be careful with our casino time, of course. But if we can control that it certainly won&#8217;t break the bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ship is the Carnival <em>Firenze <\/em>&#8211; one of the Costa Italian ships in the Carnival fleet. We have never been on it before, but we have been on a sister ship, the <em>Venezia <\/em>and we loved it. It isn&#8217;t huge but that is fine. Hopefully it will be large enough to be fairly stable as it rounds Cape Horn which has a reputation of having some of the worst weather in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We will have an inside cabin and will have to move twice as this is actually a cruise consisting of back-to-back-to-back cruise segments of 15 days, 14 days and 16 days, respectively. But moving down the hall twice (all 3 cabins are on Deck 7) won&#8217;t be difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is the full itinerary:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&nbsp;1. Miami FL<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Note that on Day 34 we cross the path of a total solar eclipse! A solar eclipse from the sea will be spectacular, if not cloudy. There are a LOT of sea days, but we like sea days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don&#8217;t usually give cruises a trip designation unless they are part of a combo ship\/auto or an around-the-world trip. But this one is epic and deserves a label, So it will be the South American Cruise (SAC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We fly to LA January 1 and the ship departs January 4. I have booked 3 nights in Long Beach on the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/RMS_Queen_Mary\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/RMS_Queen_Mary\">Queen Mary<\/a>. Yes, we are preceding a 45-night cruise with 3 nights in a cruise liner hotel.
