The VA\/MD branch is a little shaky, but solid enough to be included. I summarize a couple of relevant demographics here.<\/p>\n<pre>By country of birth:\r\n  England          129\r\n  Netherlands       26\r\n  Scotland           9\r\n  Germany            9\r\n  Norway             5\r\n  France             5\r\n  Prussia            4\r\n  Wales              3\r\n  Ireland            1\r\n  Poland             1\r\n  unknown            1\r\n\r\nBy place of death:\r\n  MA                58\r\n  VA                39\r\n  NY                30\r\n  CT                20\r\n  WI                14\r\n  NJ                 9\r\n  NH                 5\r\n  MD                 5\r\n  IL                 2\r\n  ND                 2\r\n  PA                 1\r\n  At sea             3\r\n  England            2\r\n  Barbados           1\r\n  unknown            2\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Most of my immigrant ancestors were born in northern Europe and what is now the United Kingdom.\u00a0 Most died on the east coast of the US, but a few made it to WI and IL.\u00a0 The geographical dispersion is greater for my ancestors than for Jett&#8217;s.\u00a0 As with Jett&#8217;s Irish ancestors, relatively few of my ancestors come from Norway but they are recent, giving them an outsized influence in my genetic composition.<\/p>\n<p>I do not have any <em>Mayflower<\/em> ancestors, but I do have some early American ancestors &#8211; both in Jamestown VA and in the New York City (New Amsterdam) areas.\u00a0 Some were in America as early as 1613 &#8211; 7 years before the Pilgrims landed in Massachusetts.\u00a0 I also have something in my ancestry that makes Jett envious: I have one ancestor who is not only full-blooded Native American, but an Indian princess, the daughter of the tribal chief.\u00a0 Eat your heart out, Jett.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since I have summarized my research into Jett&#8217;s immigrant ancestors, I will also summarize mine, for comparison purposes.
